2026 Delaware Spelling Bee Winners

Showcasing Excellence in Delaware Schools

The Bee is growing and we want every Delaware student to have the chance to compete. If your school wasn't represented this year, reach out to your school board members and let them know you'd like to participate in 2027. The more schools that join, the stronger Team Delaware becomes.

The 2026 Delaware Regional Spelling Bee:

A Winning Day for Team Delaware!

On March 7, 2026, 57 students from across Delaware took the stage at Delaware Technical Community College for the 2026 Delaware Regional Spelling Bee, and they delivered something extraordinary. With more than 300 attendees cheering them on, the competition was a powerful reminder of the academic excellence already present in Delaware's classrooms, and of what becomes possible when a whole community shows up for its students.

The program opened with remarks from Governor Matt Meyer, Lt. Governor Kyle Evans Gay, Secretary of Education Cindy Marten, Senator Dan Cruce, Senator Laura Sturgeon, Representative Kamela Smith, and Senator Eric Buckson. The event was hosted by Blake Saunders and featured an inspiring address by Jasmyn Wright, founder and CEO of the Push Through Organization.

The competition was guided by Pronouncer Dr. Nadya Pincus of the University of Delaware and a distinguished panel of judges: Dr. Amber Battle-Winston (United Way of Delaware), Shelby Borst (2025 Delaware Teacher of the Year), Logan Herring (The WRK Group), Stacy Lane (Laurel Public Library), Samanta Lopez (Delaware Technical Community College), Julia Merola (Spotlight Delaware), Councilman Gerald Rocha (City of Dover), and Jon Sheehan (State Board of Education).

Second Place: Nathan L., Delaware Valley Classical School

Third Place: Brandon Z., North Star Elementary School, Red Clay
