FSE Delaware Spelling Bee 2025–2026

Empowering Students, Building Confidence

The First State Educate Spelling Bee is Delaware’s regional spelling competition, affiliated with the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The program provides students with an opportunity to showcase their spelling and vocabulary skills while bringing schools and communities together to celebrate academic achievement.

Enrollment opens August 19, 2025

Eligibility & School Registration

  • Open to all Delaware K–8 schools that register with Scripps.

  • Each participating school must hold a school-level competition to identify one School Champion.

  • The School Champion must be in grades 4–8 and meet Scripps eligibility requirements to advance to the Delaware Regional Bee.

Schools can register via spellingbee.com to send a champion to Delaware’s regional program hosted by First State Educate.

Across Delaware, schools are coming together to celebrate student achievement and ignite statewide learning pride.

So far, 55 schools have joined the Delaware Spelling Bee, and the excitement is contagious. But this isn’t just about numbers. It’s about making sure every student in Delaware has the chance to feel that same excitement, pride, and recognition.

School Champion Requirements

Schools must submit the name and contact information of their School Champion into the Scripps portal by December 31, 2025.

Qualifying Bee (Tentative)

The Delaware Regional Bee has capacity for 55 schools. If more than 55 School Champions are identified, all will compete in the Scripps Online Qualifier Test(spelling and vocabulary) to determine who advances to the Regional Bee.

On March 8, 2025, Delaware’s brightest young spellers took the stage for a high-caliber event that brought families, educators, and community leaders together to celebrate literacy and perseverance. More than 50 students competed. This year’s Bee not only crowned champions—it set a new standard for Delaware’s celebration of student achievement.
