The New School Funding Formula for Delaware
What it means for school boards, students, families, and communities
6:00 PM
Delaware is transitioning to a new hybrid school funding formula designed to provide funding based not only on enrollment, but also on the individual needs of students. The new model combines traditional staffing allocations with weighted funding for students who require additional support, including multilingual learners, students from low-income households, and students receiving special education services. The implementation is expected to begin with the 2027–28 school year through a phased approach.
