Delaware School Boards and the Knowledge Hub: A New Year for Student Success
A Fresh Start for Delaware Public Education
The first week of school is more than sharpened pencils and new schedules. It’s a powerful reminder that Delaware’s future depends on how well we—families, educators, school boards, and community leaders—work together for students. Strong schools are built on strong governance, accountability, and community engagement.
That’s why First State Educate (FSE) is making big moves this fall to ensure Delawareans have the tools, knowledge, and forums to strengthen public education in Delaware and improve outcomes for every child.
The Knowledge Hub: Delaware’s Guide to Stronger Schools
We’ve redesigned our website to put the Knowledge Hub front and center. This isn’t just another online library—it’s a living space built to equip Delaware’s education leaders and advocates with what they need to make a difference.
The Knowledge Hub is:
A guide to understanding Delaware’s education data and policies. Learn how to read the Delaware Report Card, compare results across schools, and ask the right questions about progress.
A training ground for board members and community advocates. Access quick guides, video lessons, and practical tools to strengthen decision-making.
A space where information turns into collective action. Connect with others who care about student outcomes and find ways to move forward together.
The Knowledge Hub is Delaware’s go-to resource for understanding education data, strengthening school board governance, and improving student success. Explore the Knowledge Hub here.
Board Matters: Delaware Conversations
This fall, FSE is launching Board Matters: Delaware Conversations—a monthly forum where Delawareans come together to discuss the issues shaping our schools. Each session will connect the dots between data, lived experience, and school board leadership, giving communities the knowledge they need to drive change.
Topics will include:
Student achievement and outcomes
Attendance and chronic absenteeism
School funding
Transparency in governance
Family and community engagement
📊 First Forum: Monday, September 16, 6:00 p.m.
We’ll break down the 2024–25 student achievement results and talk about what they really mean for kids in our state. This conversation goes beyond numbers—it’s about making smarter decisions, building stronger school boards, and ensuring better opportunities for every child.

Why Delaware School Boards Matter
Delaware’s public education system impacts all of us, whether we have children in school or not. School boards set priorities, hold systems accountable, and keep communities informed. But they can’t do it alone. Families and community members bring the lived experience and urgency that turn policies into real progress for students.
Research shows that when communities engage meaningfully with school governance, student outcomes improve. Delaware’s future depends on this shared responsibility.
